Top seeds China found themselves with a tough Thomas Cup draw at the end of the group stage of the TOTAL BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals 2016.
The draw, conducted immediately after the final group match on Wednesday, saw China placed against powerful Korea in the quarter-finals. Indonesia or Hong Kong loom ahead as semi-final opponents.
The draw ceremony was conducted by BWF, and members of the media helped pick the draw in the presence of team managers, the tournament referee, and other officials.
The quarter-finals draw has defending champions Japan running into second seeds Denmark; Malaysia face Chinese Taipei in the same quarter.
In the Uber Cup, top seeds China have a relatively easier path. China run into Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals. Thailand and India are also in the same quarter.
No.2 seeds Japan find themselves opposite Denmark, while Korea face Indonesia.
The draw was conducted by placing the top two seeds at opposite ends. The 3-4 seeds and the remaining teams were then picked by random draw.
